NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Corey Davis quietly paced along the sideline in practices over the last few weeks. He's itching to get back after a hamstring injury forced him to miss most of training camp.

"He is frustrated, without showing it, about not being able to be with Marcus Mariota Jerseys his teammates," Tennessee Titans coach Mike Mularkey said. "He wants to be out there, more than we want him to be out there."

The good news is he won't have to be frustrated too much longer. Mularkey said Davis "ahead of schedule" in his recovery and on track to play in the Titans' preseason finale Aug. 31 at Kansas City "if he continues to progress like he is."

Davis, the Titans' first draft pick and the fifth pick overall, has showed flashes of being the Titans No. 1 receiver, and he's eager to make a big rookie impact. He said he "can't wait" to get back on the field.

Veteran Eric Decker told Davis to take it easy because Delanie Walker Jerseys hamstrings are notoriously tricky. The Titans and Davis want to avoid a lingering issue into the regular season, but they also know how important it is for the rookie receiver to get at least a few preseason reps. He's already been ruled out Sunday against Chicago.

"Obviously, it would be really good for him to get into one, but we want him for DeMarco Murray Jerseys the season, not for a preseason game," Mularkey said.

The true goal is Week 1 for Davis, too. The Titans offense clicked Saturday without him, but it should be even better with a full arsenal.

Decker will be questionable for Sunday's game against Chicago due to a sprained ankle. Derrick Henry Jerseys Receiver Rishard Matthews, who was excused from Saturday's game against the Panthers for personal reasons, will return to practice Monday.

Receiver Tajae Sharpe, who has spent all of training camp on the physically Eddie George Jerseys unable to perform list while recovering from foot surgery, will have a workout Monday to determine if he's able to return to practice.

"He looks real good," Mularkey said. "Tajae has done everything above and beyond what we’ve asked him to do to come back from that injury."
